So I have figured out that modules need to be set to all in the menu assignment in order for it to show up when you click on a tag link... but what If I don't want all my modules on every page?
|

The modules are standard module, which means it can be assigned to specail menus only.

I have checked in my local machine, it works fine(Assign the module to some specail menu item).

Or perhaps I don't get your exact meaning.

Right, you don't get he exact meaning. I have the same problem here: The right(or left) modules show up on tag page only if the right/left modules is set to ALL on menu assignment. For example if the login module is set to appear only on some selected Menu Item(s) from the List, then the tag page don`t show any right/left module. Please see my attached screenshoot Thank you.

OMGOSH! Thx soooo much for adding this thread. I'm eager for a solution since I'm using tags to sort my categories in Joomla.
Being an ex-Drupal user, I'm used to being able to add multiple categories to an article. Unfortunately and fortunately, I will be using tags to do the job instead. This was the last thing I needed fixed before going live. I guess I'll disable the component until there is a fix for this. Just to clarify, I have several modules but when clicking on a tag, I'm forwarded to the results but there are no modules on the left or right. it's impossible to fix on the backend due to multiple tags. I figured creating menu items for each tag and then assigning modules to them would be a workaround but I don't think that worked either. Again, looking forward to the fix.
|

I'm getting the same issue with Joomla 1.5.15 and Joomlatags v1.3. I updated the plugin this evening and flushed my page cache and still get the problem behavior.

This is an issue for me because I have specific OpenX ad zones set up for front vs. inside pages.

Any ETA on a fix?

Great. You told us the same thing before this release. It seems that this bug is not so important. I know that we use your component for free but you must respect us like we do becouse there is a lot of websites that link back to your site.

Sorry about that.

In fact, I can't find what cause the problem. I have done some debug, and can't find the reason.

I can understand your feeling, you want it work fine for you.

For me, I also want it don't have any bugs, and work smoothly.

Tags have more and more code, and I do all the maintenance by myself.

I also need to work, and do tags development in my spare time.

So I can't give a immediate bug fix, and feature request.

I want to keep the component be free.

I will try to fix the bug in the next release.

After all, I am not sure I have the ability to fix the bug in the next release.

The best explanation I can offer of what I'm seeing is this: I have some modules that are only meant to display when they're associated with my home page. I have other modules that appear in the same position on non-home (inside pages). The only way I can see a module on the tags index pages is if I set it to show on *every* page. If I set it to show on just the home page, or every page *but* the home page, it will not show up on the tags index pages. Since the placement of modules is driven by the menus, I can't figure out how to tell Joomla to place modules on pages that aren't associated with a menu. Maybe it's not a bug, exactly, but a conceptual problem on my part, or a flaw in the way Joomla thinks about module placement.
|

problem is joomla related, try the search module and you will get the same reaction on the results page.

only modules defined to appear on all pages will load. Select only a few, it won't appear.

as far as i know, though.
|

I'm also interested in this.

The modules are lost because the links are not built from the Alltags page, but seem to be complete orphans. That's why they don't have any styling or anything. The Itemid is blank. I can force the Itemid by editing the controller.php file for com_tag, but that doesn't get the modules over because Joomla still doesn't consider the tag pages to be children of the Alltags page.

I'll think more about this tomorrow, but it seems like there's a solution here, I just don't know what it is.

In other words, Joomla articles get their URL and stuff from having Category or Section layout if they don't have a specific Article layout (see this page: http://docs.joomla.org/How_to_control_module_display_when_linking_to_an_article_with_no_menu_item). Tag pages DO NOT inherit any such URL or anything from their parent (which I think should be the Alltags page, right?).

Thoughts? Great component, by the way.
|

Well, the problem is as akamyself suggests: It's not a problem with this module so much as it is the way Joomla deals with this sort of page. I did find a plugin that helps:

Advanced Module Manager allows you to assign a module using a slightly different way of describing the assignment from what Joomla offers. Rather than saying "on all menu items" or "on all these menu items," you can say "everywhere but ..." then provide a list of which menu items the module should not be loaded on. That, in turn, can help you pull in pages generated by components like Joomla Tags (or the search results).

In my case, since I had "front page" and "inside page" ad zones for OpenX, I set up the inside page zone modules to display on every menu item but my Home item. That pulls in all the non-home-pages, regardless of component type or menu assignment, and the pages in question don't have to be assigned a menu.

For the front page ad zones, I just set them up to display on the Home page menu item only, as before.

Here's the link for that module:

http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/administration/admin-structure/10307

Hope it helps others who had the same problem I did.

Thanks to pdxmph for providering a solution.

In my test machine, I have a menu item which links to a tag, then when click the tag, the modules assigned to specific menu items will not dispear. yorb, is this the solution in your mind?
|
