<p>I'm not sure about performance gain, but i've saw it in other plugins and it sounds good. The matter is to join ALL CSS images into a big image and then, using background positions to replace all of them.</p>
<p>May be that it causes more problems than goods, but may be you want to try it for next releases and see how it works. Without a deep testing, it sounds like a good idea to me.</p>
