What you must know, is that the Advanced Options of weboptimizer are not so good as it claims to be.

The funny part is that this is the most expensive pack provided by weboptimizer.

CSS Sprites: The sprites are good yes, nothing new here, but not good at all if you plan to have all you're template as csssprite, because the final picture will be load every time, despite of the need. So if it's too heavy, you kill all the benefits.

data:URI + mhtml: There's severals test that say that data:URI are not so good, most of the webmasters roll back to a standard scheme for pictures.

Multiple Hosts: This part is only for huge websites, if you make a test (and you've probably already done some, because this is a pagespeed and YSlow recommendation) you'll find, that you kill the performances, because this is some more of DNS resolution and finally more HTTP requests again. So this is just for big big sites.

Exceptional Performance: What's this argue hue ?

Final word is, weboptimizer is a good tool, doing pretty the same thing that cssjscompress does, but with different technics. For beginers, it will be pretty hard ton configure, particulary because it use the htaccess, and for all the options you absolutely need to know what you're doing. Each options have lots of consequences on your sites.

And it's a paid script

So try the free version, but it's beta stage at this time, and i've seen few annoying bugs for the moments, i don't recommend it for production at this time, need to wait a little more.
|
